Multisourcing
More and more organizations are turning to multisourcing, i.e., outsourcing the services of an IT project to several service providers. Multisourcing promises access to specialized knowledge (best-of-breed) and additional competition among service providers. At the same time, it makes the coordination of the many service providers a challenge.
In this research project, we address several questions. We investigate how coordination can succeed in large, complex multisourcing projects. We also investigate the role of the so-called guardian model, i.e., a model of collaboration in which one service provider is responsible for managing the other service providers. In addition, we investigate why organizations choose multisourcing.
