This course complements the lecture Information Resource Management (IRM) with a practical component. Selected information management issues will be illustrated by means of hands-on case study exercises. The main objective is to better understand as well as to apply the concepts taught in the lecture IRM. Therefore, we require all students of this course to also attend IRM in the same semester or to have attended IRM in a prior semester.
The teaching concept foresees that students work in groups. Starting off with preparing and presenting teaching cases, students will learn the required skills for analyzing and writing case studies. Once provided with this skill set, each group will have to conduct an own case study project in a “real world” business environment. The case study comprises approaching and contacting a company as well as analyzing, presenting and writing up the case.
The final presentation of the case study will be at the end of the semester, whereas students will have time for submitting the case study paper until January 31st, 2013.
To apply for this course you have to attend the first lecture!
